Historic building with a warm and comforting atmosphere. Started with cocktails at their Whiskey Bar served by a very knowledgeable and friendly bartender, shoutout to Oscar. Moved to the main Dining Room for a very fresh and delicious Chicken Pot Pie. Food was good and reasonably priced. Service was friendly. Great place for a family meal after a day of touristing... Take a short stroll to Battery Park afterwards.

Fraunces Tavern is my go to NYC restaurant! It’s downtown near Wall Street and the World Trade Center, and has a ton of historical significance! It’s one of the oldest establishments in the country, and is famous because George Washington gave his farewell speech to his officers there! The food is great, fancy pub fair! All the different rooms with different themes adds a unique flair to the place. Everything from atmosphere to service to food is amazing here! You have to eat lunch or dinner at Fraunces Tavern if you are in Downtown Manhattan!

My first and only stop while in NYC. Love the beers, clam chowder and the chicken pot pie. Worth the trip just to come to my favorite restaurant in the entire city. They have a great raw oyster special too 4-7 each week day. Every time I come they have a better batch of sour beers than the time before. Will be back soon!! Liz😊

Fraunces Tavern is a true gem for both history buffs and food lovers. As the city’s oldest bar, it has played a significant role in America’s past, having once hosted the Founding Fathers. I was seated next to the portrait of George Washington, which added an extra layer of charm to the historic atmosphere. Beyond its historical significance, the experience here was fantastic. The food was delicious, the service was excellent, and our waitress was incredibly friendly and attentive. Whether you're here for the history, the atmosphere, or just a great meal, Fraunces Tavern delivers on all fronts.

We had a reservation, but arrived about 30 minutes early. They seated us right away which was really nice. The building and the rooms are so cool. Each room was its own vibe. The food was delicious - the pot pie was definitely the best item if everything we tried. Make sure to save room for dessert!

Such a cool, historical place! We had stopped in here once on a tour and decided to come back to eat. There are many rooms and alcoves plus at least 2 bars that I saw, so the atmosphere is different depending on where you are seated. We were by the larger bar so it was a little loud, especially after the live music begin, right next to us. But next time we will request seats in the quieter areas which looked very cozy:) The food was very good- fish and cjops and Tavern burger. But the best we had was the short rib flatbread, which was spectacular! Great place, we will be back!

We were in NYC to prepare for the bicentennial kickoff of Lafayette’s return to America celebrations and got surprised to lunch at the Tavern. It was an experience. The building is a part of history and is breathtaking. The staff is welcoming and knowledgeable! You can walk around and explore the historic site which is great for history nerds like myself and for families. The menu is diverse for all food preferences as well. Bravo for that at an historic tavern! It’s a must see experience.

Visited the pub and museum (upstairs) for July 4. Historic tavern and oldest operating pub (and oldest continuously standing building) in NYC. For a while, it housed the predecessors of the State, Treasury, and Defense Departments. Had the house ale which was $9 plus tax. Didn't eat anything there as there was no table seating available (it was crowded on July 4). Experience a piece of history!

Great old times vibes and superb food. We had the warm baguette, clam chowder and pear salad to start and then shared the lobster mac and cheese. The mac and cheese and chowder were the best I've ever had. I also had the predisedential punch cocktail and it was delicious. I don't think you can go wrong with anything on the menu.

Fraunces Tavern in NYC is a must-visit! It’s one of the oldest bars in the city, and the historic charm is unmatched. The cozy vibe makes it perfect for a laid-back night out. A Fantastic Dining Experience! I had an absolutely delicious lunch here! The truffle fries were outstanding—crispy, flavorful, and a must-try. The atmosphere was wonderful, blending charm and history seamlessly, and the service was just as impressive. This spot has deep historical ties to a few founding fathers it is a must-visit for any history buff exploring NYC. On top of the great food and ambiance, the staff went above and beyond. My cell service was spotty in the city, and after my meal, the hostess kindly helped me with directions. That level of hospitality truly made my experience even better. Highly recommend!

We reserved for an afternoon meal. We loved the atmosphere. We ordered hamburgers. They were generous portions with great flavour. Just two small things. I had to waive our server down whenever we needed something. I prefer to have an attentive server. And while the atmosphere is fun, it is loud. That's more just a heads up for others going.

I visited Fraunces Tavern for lunch and had an absolutely wonderful experience. The ambience was incredible, full of historical charm, and the staff was attentive and friendly. We ordered the chicken pot and fish and chips, and both dishes were exceptional. The chicken pot was rich and flavorful, a definite highlight of the meal. The fish and chips were perfectly crispy and fresh. Overall, the combination of amazing food, friendly service, and the historic atmosphere makes this place a must-visit. Highly recommend!

Make sure to make a reservation, especially on the holidays! It was very well decorated and super cozy that's why we love it! Aside from it being a historical place.. It feels so warm going inside after walking around downtown Manhattan.. good selection of food and drinks.. and accommodating staff ❤️

I've wanted to dine at Fraunces Tavern for a very long time, and today was finally the day. This place oozes history as it's one of the oldest restaurants in New York City. The establishment is housed in one of the oldest buildings in the city, which was constructed in 1719 well before we were even the United States of America! Frances Tavern also has a museum located on the second floor that you can tour, which I did after lunch and was a lot of fun. In any event, this whole experience is a must visit NYC attraction. Oh, and I loved the duck sandwich!

The food was absolutely delicious, and we had the privilege of sipping on the finest whiskey I've ever tasted: Jack Daniel's Single Barrel Special Release Tennessee Whiskey. Really cool spot in the financial district. Been around since 1762 and they have done a fantastic job preserving & fostering that upscale tavern vibe. Tons of seating and 3 distinct bars to choose from, this is a fantastic place to stop, grab a drink, and vibe! Would highly recommend the Presidential Punch, Manhattan, and espresso martini. The fall drinks were okay, but their flagships are outstanding. Food wise, KILLER. Lobster Mac and Cheese is enough to feed 2 for dinner or 3-4 for an appetizer. Fantastic spot, super cool, stop in and enjoy!

Nice live music, great date night vibe on the bar side of the restaurant. The scotch egg and fish and chips were delicious and I would certainly get those again. Unfortunately the burrata flatbread was a total miss. It was served on a really thick pita (not a flatbread), and they added shredded cheese on top of the prosciutto and burrata? The flavors didn’t go well together and neither did the textures so I’d pass on that in the future. Also, the prosciutto was noticeable poor quality and seemed old since it was quite tough to each and chew through.

Huge place with lots of different areas; great atmosphere with historic vibe; awesome live music; perfect special offer of Wolfhound oyster stout 3 fresh oysters for just $15; very good burgers (we tried bison and tavern; though instead of medium rare they were closer to medium well, but still pretty juicy). Overall a very pleasant experience, will definitely be returning.

We absolutely loved our time here for lunch. The staff was incredibly friendly and attentive. The history in this building is wonderful to see as well. I was happy with the bathroom, which in older buildings can sometimes be a bit scary. Lol We ordered the Mac & Cheese with bacon(+3) to split for an appetizer. Yum. Then, I ordered the Pomelo Spritz cocktail. It was light, refreshing, delicious, and exactly what I needed. For entrees, we ordered the Skirt Steak Frites and the Jefferson Cobb Salad with Grilled Chicken. It was all cooked perfectly and definitely hit the spot after our long morning of walking and sightseeing. We would return again without hesitation! Thank you!
